Description
Sattu is a special type of Indian Flour. It is made by milling roasted grains, which gives it a special taste and it does not need to be heated before further working with it. It is the main ingredient in the popular Street Food Litti Chokha.
Barley is a grain that is very rich in iron, as well as fibre, calcium, protein and it has an especially low GI.
Benefits of Barley
- Super Rich in Iron, Fibre, Calcium & Protein
- Good for heart
- Rich in antioxidants, helps boost the immune system
- Builds Memory Power
- Good for muscle health
- Low Glycemic Index (GI)
Nutrition Value: Low in Glycemic Index and high in Fibre, Protein and Carbohydrate. Jau Sattu is a good substitute for modern day Protein Powders, available at exorbitant rates in the health food market.
How to use: Popularly used as a cool drink. Therefore, it is mixed in cold water with jaggery as a sweetener. Furthermore, it can also be mixed with regular wheat flour and cooked as a high fibre, nutritious roti. Additionally, it can be made into Paranthas or Ladoos. Or you can make the delicious breakfast dish Sattu Cheela. For this dish mix besan, onions, tomatoes, salt, pepper, buttermilk/water and, of course, 6-7 spoons of sattu and fry in a pan.
How to store: Store the flour in an airtight steel or glass container. Ideally, it is advised to consume any flour within 20 – 25 days of milling otherwise its nutrition start getting depleted and flour starts getting stale. This is more so in the case of our flour which is not treated by any chemicals for increasing shelf life, so buy in small quantities and consume it well in time.

How to Store Fresh Atta (Flour) for Maximum Freshness ?
To ensure freshness, nutrition, and taste, proper storage of fresh atta is essential. Follow these simple storage tips to keep your flour fresh and free from pests.
1️⃣ Transfer from the Bag Immediately
We provide atta in bags that are meant only for transportation, not for storage. As soon as you receive your atta, transfer it to an airtight container to maintain freshness and avoid contamination.
2️⃣ Store in an Airtight Container
Always keep fresh atta in a clean, dry, airtight container. This prevents moisture absorption, keeping the flour fresh for longer.
3️⃣ Keep Away from Heat & Sunlight
Store the container in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Heat and humidity can lead to spoilage and insect infestation.
4️⃣ Refrigerate for Long-Term Storage
If you don’t plan to use the atta within 3-4 weeks, store it in the refrigerator or freezer. This prevents rancidity and keeps the flour fresh for up to 3 months in the fridge and 6 months in the freezer.
5️⃣ Use a Dry Spoon & Close Lid Properly
Always use a dry spoon to avoid moisture contamination. Close the lid tightly after every use to prevent air exposure.
6️⃣ Add Natural Pest Repellents
Place bay leaves, neem leaves, or cloves in the container to keep insects away naturally.
7️⃣ Check for Freshness
Fresh atta has a mild, nutty aroma. If it smells sour or stale, it may have gone bad.
Following these simple tips will ensure your fresh atta stays nutritious, aromatic, and free from spoilage.
